About

We aim to act as a hub to enable women and men who support feminism in York and the surrounding area to meet (in real life or online), discuss, share ideas and take action.

We have decided to keep all meetings for self-identifying women only, in order to provide a safe space where members feel able to share openly. This includes transwomen and those who are non-binary female. Women are more than welcome to bring their children along. Though we are unable to provide childcare, we will endeavour to support those women who would like to attend with their children – on the understanding that we allow an open space for feminist discussion, which might include topics that parents may feel are unsuitable for their children.

2020-1 Meetings

Due to the pandemic and unsuitability of venues for this purpose, we have put the Sunday group meetings on hold until normal life can resume and it is safe for us to meet others in person.

We would welcome feminist articles / essays / musings from any of our group members to include on this blog. If you have a piece that you would like to be included on our website, please email it to us and we will credit as instructed.

Accessibility

Due to the historic nature of York it is exceptionally difficult for us to meet all possible accessibility requirements eg wheelchair accessible, suitable for people with hearing difficulties, financial accessibility etc.  This means, despite our best intentions, we often have to settle for partially suitable venues depending on the needs of people who currently attend.  If you’d like to attend but can’t because the venue isn’t suitable, please let us know and we will look into other options. If you know of an accessible venue that is available free of charge, please let us know.
